Champions!

The Fleet are Vanarama National League South champions for 2022/23!

Dennis Kutrieb and his amazing squad achieved the title and promotion back to the National League with four games to spare as a 3-0 win over Oxford City confirmed we were back – all watched by 3,131!

Dominic Poleon netted another hat-trick to take his total for the season to 36 league goals (38 in all).

The Fleet are the first club in the top seven tiers of English football to claim a league title this season.

More reaction and reports… in good time after the Trophy presentation and a celebration or two here in the Fleet camp!

To our players, our staff and our supporters – we couldn’t have done it without you. It means everything to everyone here at the Fleet – pat yourselves on the back and savour YOUR title.

Pitch Encroachment

Please everyone – respect the club & respect the players on Friday (if we do win the league then). Please let’s allow them their lap of honour after the game without anyone running on the pitch. You will get to see the players anyway and – if the Trophy is presented – we will all get a far better chance to witness this if we all stay on the terraces/ in the stands.
And equally, by staying off the pitch, we remove any opportunity for the league to deduct points. Plus there will still be 4 games to play & by going on the pitch, there is a risk of injury to the players.
You really do not need to be on the pitch to celebrate.

Update on Tom Sharkey

Jemma

Jemma’s a jewel for Fleet

The Fleet over 50’s football team presented Jemma Barber with flowers and
champagne to say thank you after Fleet footballer Tom Starkey suffered a
cardiac arrest recently. Jemma works at Goals Dartford where the over 50’s
Fleet team train every Thursday. Jemma works in reception but also acts as the
first aider for the company and her quick action before an ambulance arrived
played a major park in the incident. Tom is currently in hospital but hopefully
being released home shortly following an operation. Tom (58) from Gravesend
was the Golden Boot winner for the Fleet team last season scoring 8 FA Kent
League goals and 6 more during friendly and tournament games. Fleet team
co-ordinator Chris Judge said “Jemma was aided by her assistant Luke
Woodward and our own player Simon Palmer and Paul Hollaway from the
Bexley team and each of these will also receive champagne as part of our
sincere thanks during this very traumatic time. All our thoughts are with Tom
for a full recovery.”

Away Travel Arrangements

The Fleet Supporters’ Trust are pleased to announce that away travel this season will be provided by Grange Travel, a local firm, based in Gravesend who provide the team coach.
Quotes were obtained from a number of local coach companies and Grange Travel were felt to be the most cost effective with regards to prices and their range of coach capacities.
As everyone will be aware fuel costs have risen considerably and as a result the FST Board have, reluctantly, increased prices for away travel this season. There are three levels: Group A at £20, Group B at £15 and Group C at £10. These are members prices, non members are £5 more in each group! There have been no price increase for four years. These prices will be subject to review throughout the season should Grange Travel need to increase prices if fuel costs make it necessary.
The Fleet Supporters’ Trust will make every effort to avoid any increase by raising revenue from 50/50 and Golden goal and any other initiatives felt necessary.
Please support the away coaches and encourage new Members to join the Fleet Supporters’ Trust.
Bookings can be made as in previous seasons at the Trust Office or by calling Tracy Down on 07764 731633 or John Burgess on 07951 610878.

John Burgess
Chairman.
